What it is

The society's journal for 1885. This volume carries the judges' report on the British Guiana Exhibition, with notes on the medicinal barks, seeds and bush remedies shown there by exhibitors from Guyana and Dominica.

Whose knowledge it records

Written by members of a colonial society. The remedies it describes belonged to Creole and Indigenous (Amerindian) Guyanese and to Dominican healers such as the exhibitor A. Ludovic; the report names a few exhibitors, not the people who held the knowledge.
